Outreach: teams visit homeless encampments, public libraries, parks, and free meal programs to engage with those who are often the hardest to reach and connect them with services. Can provide hygiene kits, snacks, water, socks, information about local resources, and ongoing wellness checks
Emergency Shelter: offers a safe place to stay with warm meals, for adults experiencing homelessness. Allows residents the safety and support they need to build income and skills while they seek permanent housing. Services include clean & warm beds, meals, shower & laundry facilities, access to computers & telephones, access to housing case managers, links to primary mental, dental, & medical health, and links to community & mainstream services.
Transitional Housing: intermediate step between emergency shelter and permanent housing. Long-term, service-instensive, and private than emergency shelters, yet remains time-limited to stays of a few months to a few years. Services include meals & shelter, vocational & housing case management, life skills counselling, family reunification support, and move-in assistance
Rapid Re-Housing: Quickly placing people into a home of their own, usually with the assistance of a time-limited rental voucher that may iclude support services. Once housed with the assistance of a case manager, clients can focus on stabilizing, building income, and finding a more permanent housing solution. Services include: private or shared rooms, share bathrooms & showers, accesss to cooking facilities, on-site laundry, access to computers & telephones, assistance from housing case managers, referrals to medical, dental, & mental health care, and links to community and mainstream services
Permanent Supportive Housing: provided for clients who need ongoing support and case management. Often helpful for people who have experienced homelessness for years. Can be on-site in BFHP or off-site support for clients living in regular housing. Services include rental assistance, life skills counselling, benefit advocacy, case management, and tenancy sustaining support.
Food: Meals for residential clients as well as available to the community located in Berkeley Mon-Fri 3:00 - 4:00pm
Vocational: provides wraparound services to homeless Veterans, ensuring they have the tools they need to gain employment and build income while they work to achieve stable housing. Work with clients for a full year to help them find a job and once they are employed, they check in on a monthly basis for an additional year to make sure they are able to retain their employment. Services include resume building, links to job training, job search assistance, and interview prep.
