VIPS, Visually Impaired Persons Support

Description:

To provide a place of compassion, support, understanding, education and personal growth for any person who is blind or visually impaired, through independent life and job skills training. VIPS programs empower people with vision impairments to re-enter the workforce, maintain independence and become active participants in their community. Training by appointment.

Services include:
-Assistive Technology Training: Individual instruction in the use of Assistive Technology. Learn to use smart phones, tablets, computers, magnification and other devices.
-Independent Living Skills: Individual instruction in alternative techniques for use in daily in-home activities.
-Orientation & Mobility Training: Individual instruction in orientation techniques, mobility skills, White Cane use, and use of public transportation.
-Braille Instruction: Individual instruction in Literary Braille (Grades 1 & 2) and instruction in the use of note takers.
-Support Groups: Peer to peer counseling and social interaction in a safe and confidential setting.
-Care-Givers Support Group: Opportunity for care-givers to share concerns and experiences in supporting a person with visual impairment.

Individuals who do not qualify for these services and need financial assistance may qualify for a scholarship Scholarships are limited by funds available. for more information please call 877-354-0939.
