The Mission of the Social Services Department is to Assist the Community of the Tuolumne Band of Me Wuk Indians and Alaska / Native American families.

Our services are spread throughout Mariposa, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. Our programs and services may have different eligibility requirements by county and tribal status; therefore, individuals are highly encouraged to contact the Social Services Department to request clarification regarding specific information.

TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) program: TANF provides assistance to Native American families with children in Tuolumne, Calaveras and Stanislaus Counties. We offer a five-year program supported by temporary financial assistance, with a foundation in educational incentives and work opportunities, to lead families to self-sufficiency. Eligibility limited to families, 60-month limit (in a lifetime) for employable adults, focuses on work, self-sufficiency and personal responsibility, must be a member or descendant of a federally recognized tribe, or be on the California Indian Judgment Rolls. Tuolumne Me-Wuk Food Distribution Program: an entire household is eligible if the household has at least 1 Native American member. Sign up to receive a bag of freshly sourced products distributed every 2 weeks at a local tribal or TANF office near you. Call 209-928-5322 for eligibility requirements or to apply.
