Description:
Support, transportation and resource services for Amador County cancer patients and their families. They answer questions about local and regional services available to cancer patients and survivors. They oversee cancer patient transportation providing free transportation to radiation and chemotherapy treatments in Sacramento, Stockton, Lodi, Rancho Cordova and Amador County.
TRANSPORTATION: Vehicles generally depart from and return to the STARS office on Sutter Hill, but pickup/dropoff in some locations can be arranged. Transport patients to the Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, El Dorado County, Calaveras County and within Amador County. Other trips may be arranged with advance notice. Transportation runs 5 days a week (Monday-Friday). The vehicles are owned, maintained, insured and scheduled by the Amador STARS.
SUPPORT SERVICES: Whether you are looking for emotional support from someone who has been through the same struggle you are going through, or are interested in learning about available resources, th cancer support groups offer a comfortable setting for cancer survivors, patients and their families.
Wig Program - women experiencing hair loss from cancer treatments are eligible to receive one free wig with assistance from a licensed cosmetologist. Please contact for an application.
RESOURCES: Office coordinator will help find the information you need, whether its a publication in the lending library, a brochure or online resources, or a guide to local community services. Has internet access PC to cancer websites, cancer information & materials, Cancer Support group meetings.
Office is ADA Compliant but vehicles are not wheelchair accessible.
