Description:

Amador County Senior Center offers the following services:

Congregate Meals may be provided to persons who meet eligibility requirements, including: 1) age 60+; 2) spouse of age 60+ participant, regardless of spouse's age; 3) disabled, regardless of age, who reside in senior housing at which a nutrition site is located; and (4) disabled, regardless of age, who reside with a senior meal participant and accompany the senior to the site. No eligible senior will be denied a meal due to inability to contribute. This is a federally funded program with a $5 suggested contribution for 60+ and a fee of $7 for those under 60.

Jackson lunch site: Monday - Friday from 11:30am - 12:30pm at Amador Senior Center
Pioneer lunch site: Tuesdays 12pm - 1pm at Sierra Baptist Church
Ione lunch site: Thursdays 11:30am - 12:30pm at Ione Community Methodist Church
Pine Grove site: Wednesdays from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at Pine Grove Mobile Home Estates Clubhouse
Please call to make a reservation a week prior for the Pioneer, Ione, and Pine Grove sites.

Meals on Wheels: Must be 60 years of age or older, homebound, and in need of assistance with daily activities. Delivery is Monday - Friday with weekend meals delivered on Friday. Suggested contribution of $4 per meal for registered clients and no eligible senior will be denied a meal due to inability to contribute.
Amador County Meals on Wheels: Hot Meals Delivered Monday-Friday between 11:30am-1:30pm
Calaveras County Meals on Wheels: Frozen Meals Delivered once weekly

Wags and Whiskers: this is a program designed to provide regular pet supplies for seniors on their home delivered meal program. Pet supplies include the regular delivery of free pet food and supplies such as cat litter, brushes, animal crates, chew toys and more! These services are free to seniors.

Visible Address Sign: provides Amador County residents with a reflective visible address sign to aid first responders in identifying your home. Cost = $20 for seniors 55 and up and $25 for residents under 55 and installation is available. Call or go to the website for application.

Foothill Fitness: For adults over 50 years of age that aims at improving strength, balance, flexibility and maintaining functional fitness. Call for class locations and times.

Social & Hobby Groups, including game, art, crafters, and other groups.

Caregiver Support Group: For unpaid family and friends. Connect, share, and find resources to help you in providing care for your loved one. 4th Wednesdays 10:30am-11:30am.

Senior Peer Visitor Program: Connects seniors with another senior who will listen to their concerns. Provides trained senior volunteers who offer support, resourcing, and visitation to seniors in Amador County, call to be connected with a visitor. Volunteer opportunities available.

Attorney Program: Free (30-minute consultation) legal assistance for seniors 60 and older in Amador County. Call for an appointment. They also help people from the upcountry of Calaveras County.

Financial Advisor Program: provided by volunteers from a local financial advisory firm. Offers seniors the opportunity to receive complementary help with their finances or to get help with important financial decisions. Call for more information or to make an appointment. Limited to one appointment per client per year.

Transportation: Amador Senior Center offers in county medical transportation services in specific areas. Call 209-223-0442 for more information and to schedule transportation services.

They also have resources for support groups, nutrition educator, fitness / exercise classes, reflective address signs, American Legion Ambulance tickets, and general senior center activities.

They serve all Amador County residents and some Calaveras residents
