Amador County Adult Protective Services

Description:

Intervention on behalf of 65+ adults endangered by abuse, exploitation or inability to protect themselves and their interests due to age and/or a disability. Adult Protective Services investigates reports of abuse of elderly or impaired adults who are living in private homes, hotels, acute care hospitals, health clinics, adult day care, and social day care centers. In addition, APS provides and coordnates support services such as counseling, referrals for conservatorship, and advocacy.

The Home Safe Program: The Home Safe Program was established to support the safety and housing stability of individuals involved in Adult Protective Services byproviding housing-related assistance using evidence-based practices for homelessness prevention. Home Safe funding is intended for elder adults (60 years and older effective January 1, 2022) and dependent adults (18-59 who are disabled effective January 1, 2022) who are experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness as a result of elder or dependent abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or financial exploitation, as determined by Amador County APS.
